A sample message you can send in two minutes

Dear [Mayor Wu / Superintendent Skipper / Members of the School Committee],

I'm a Boston resident concerned that based on the 2026 MCAS results only 29% of BPS students in grades 3–8 are reading proficiently — and only 29% in math, with far lower outcomes for our historically marginalized groups of students. Boston invests $1.7 billion a year in its public schools, and our children deserve far better outcomes for that level of investment.

I'm asking you to: (1) set measurable, public goals for reading and math proficiency; (2) report progress to families in plain language, school by school; and (3) show how the budget is being directed toward evidence-based instructional practices and curriculum in all subjects. In addition, what is the plan to bring all students to grade-level in reading and math?

Every child in Boston deserves a quality education. Please tell me what you will do this school year to make that vision a reality.

Sincerely,
[Your name], [Your neighborhood]
